Process studies and environmental monitoring

Understanding of environmental mechanisms induced by climate changes and assessment of long-term responses of biodiversity.

Terrestrial ecosystems

Marine ecosystems
• Investigates the effects of climate change, at regional scale, on marine ecosystems and evaluates species/ecosystems resilience in order to prevent and mitigate biodiversity loss and define conservation measures
• Defines the impact of thermal anomalies, sea acidification and extreme events on biological communities
• Participates at national and international research initiatives on climate change, operating in the Mediterranean and in key areas from a climatic point of view (e.g. polar areas)
